Trip Highlights:

Your first glimpse of Bergen will be of the old Hanseatic Wharf, lined with narrow peak-roofed buildings in various colors. Many old wooden houses survive here, making an exploration of the narrow lanes a worthwhile pursuit. A funicular will take you from the city center to the top of Mt. Floyen, for an expansive view of the city below, and the surrounding mountains and fjords. If you are feeling energetic you can walk back down, enjoying the clear air and delights of nature, all the way to the bustle of the fish market, with its large selection of the freshest of seafood.

The small town of Kirkenes in Norway’s arctic region of Finnmark is the northern end of Hurtigruten’s popular Norwegian Coastal Voyage Kirkenes lies just a few kilometres from the Russian and Finnish borders. Surrounded by fjords, mountains, forests and lakes, this area is a haven for nature lovers. The Kirkenes area is also idea for short breaks to experience the northern lights in wintertime as it’s located in the middle of the “aurora zone”.

The first thing you’ll notice about Trondheim – besides the vivid colours and rich tapestry of architectural styles – is the small town friendliness that permeates the atmosphere here.
Founded in the year 997 AD as a Viking trading post, Trondheim briefly served as the capital of Norway. Later, during the Middle Ages when the city was known as Nidaros, it was the seat of the Archdiocese and Northern Europe's most important Christian pilgrimage site. Although wars and fire ravaged this medieval city in the 17th century, a number of relics survived to this day, including the imposting and ornate Nidaros Cathedral – one of the city’s top sights. Another of Trondheim’s most cherished link to its past is the charming and trendy district of Bakklandet district with its cobbled streets, well-tended gardens and rows of colourful, old wooden houses overlooking the Nidelven River. And a little further to the east – for those who desire a workout to burn off those vacation calories – a walk up the steep sidewalks to the to the 17th century Kristiansten Fortress is well worth it for the panoramic view over the city, hills and coastline from its canon-lined ramparts.

Experience the The Dovre Railway that runs through beautiful scenery from Trondheim to Oslo. This is one of the world’s most spectacular train journeys through the beautiful Gudbrandsdalen valley and across the mighty Dovrefjell mountain range. Travel time ~ 6 hours.

Oslo, Norway’s capital city, is known for its “small town” feel and natural beauty in addition to its cultural and historical attractions.  Situated at the end of Oslofjord in eastern Norway, Oslo is surrounded by green hills and mountains and is often cited as being one of the world’s greenest and most liveable cities. Here, nature is never out of reach: within the city limits are 40 islands, 343 lakes and countless parks. By some estimates, nearly 95% of the city's residents have a park or an open green space within 300 metres of their dwelling. Thanks to Oslo’s proximity to nature, “getting away from it all” is a journey measured in minutes. With ample public transportation and many parks and attractions close at hand, manoeuvring around Oslo is relatively easy and stress free. The city itself is an interesting blend of traditional Scandinavian design and modern cosmopolitan influences. This fusion of “old meets new” can be seen in places like Aker Brygge, the old waterfront area that is now a buzzing neighbourhood of trendy shops, bars and restaurants next to some of Oslo’s most historic landmarks, such as the Akershus Fortress and the Royal Palace.
